What Are Local Law 152 Subcycles?

NYC Local Law 152 gas piping inspections are required on a four-year cycle, based on your building’s community district.

To organize compliance, the NYC Department of Buildings divides buildings into four subcycles:

  • Subcycle A
  • Subcycle B
  • Subcycle C
  • Subcycle D

Each subcycle has its own inspection and filing deadline.

Why Your Subcycle Matters

Knowing your assigned subcycle is critical because:

  • Missing your deadline can trigger a Failure to File violation
  • Civil penalties will apply
  • Delayed compliance can create issues for refinancing, insurance, or property sales

Even if your inspection is completed, missing the filing deadline can still result in penalties.
